Dear Jack,
After a day at Sea World, we were ready to try the San Antonio Zoo and it was amazing!

You and your sister liked climbing all over the statues, as you do at the Houston and Waco Zoos.

We went to the aquarium, because obviously we hadn't seen enough fish at Sea World the day before.

You actually did get a little nap in, at least until this one group of rowdy kids came by and a very well intentioned little girl started yelling, "Quiet! You're waking up the baby!" Yep, you are.

Once awake, we went to the Amazon section where they had, you guessed it, more fish.

You did get to see other animals, like the elephant and the rhinoceros.

There were also a kind of guinea fowl that you thought were very neat and kept poking. We tried and tried to tell you not to poke the birds, but sometimes you learn best by experience and one of the hens gave you a very gentle peck to the hand. You stopped in surprise and held up your hand for all to see, "Bird! Bird BITE!" you told us and everyone else who was coming up on that dangerous fowl.

We then went to the kids' section where you and your sister had lots of fun playing inside and out. You were getting tired, though, so the transitioning from one cool thing to the next was getting hard so we skipped to the end, the wading river. You enjoyed it, but really, it was obvious that you were pretty well wiped out by that point.

You managed to perk right up, though, when the opportunity came on our way out to feed the fish. "Fish! Fish eat!"

You also got out of the stroller for a last look at all of the fish swimming around the very large rock that moved. I'm still not sure you understood that was an animal.

We had a lot of fun at the zoo and I think at least one rainy day this summer, we will trek back out to the San Antonio Zoo.

Love,
Mom
