Over the last few days, we have had many adventures with my old college roommate, Summer and her family.
We went to the Austin Science and Nature Center where you played happily in the water for a good long time.
We ate at Casa Ole. I know it's really Tex Mex and not as tasty as some of the other places we like to go, but did you know that the very first Casa Ole was in Pasadena, Texas? That's where Summer grew up and more or less where I grew up as well (South Houston being a hop, skip, and a bar away). My family used to go to Casa Ole after church every Sunday. Summer and I ate many chips and many bowls of salsa at Casa Ole during our college years. So, of course we had to go back.
We played that the new kid store/play space on the square downtown.
We had a picnic at Southwestern. Summer and Andrew and I met there, so it was the perfect place to take you kids.
You got a new shirt while we were there. Silly boy.
We played at the house, a lot, which worked out well for you since sometimes I think you are more of a homebody than your sister and both of you enjoy being at home longer than I do. I want to go places!
We did fun things at the house, too, like painting.
Mrs. Ford brought over a box for us to decorate and play with.
We went out to dinner.
We did a lot! I think at times that it may have been a little too much excitement, but it was still fun.Summer and I are always reading about each other's kids on our blogs and talking about them on the phone, but rarely do we get to see the other's kids in person, so it was nice to have the time to do that.
The best part is that I'm sure this isn't our last visit and while you may be too little to remember all of the adventures we had this time, I imagine that there will be many more adventures to come and at some point, you will be old enough to remember.
Then you can have as much anticipation for her visits as I do!
Love,
Mom
