It's Mother's Day and I stand amazed.
Amazed that this is the life I have. That I get to be married to man as wonderful a husband and father and your dad is. That you and your sister are entrusted to my care.
Perhaps I had a wicked childhood
Perhaps I had a miserable youth
But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past
There must have been a moment of truth
For here you are, standing there, loving me
Whether or not you should
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good
Nothing comes from nothing
Nothing ever could
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good
Perhaps I had a miserable youth
But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past
There must have been a moment of truth
For here you are, standing there, loving me
Whether or not you should
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good
Nothing comes from nothing
Nothing ever could
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good
I don't really believe the words of the song, they just keep coming to mind.... I do think of the choices I have made in my life, some poor, many good, and I just don't feel that they add up correctly. The sum of all of the good choices in my life minus the difference of all of the bad choices simply doesn't equal the joy I have now.
"Nothing comes from nothing" I hear in my head, and then I answer myself, "But all good things come from Our Heavenly Father."
I have done nothing to deserve two such wonderful healthy happy children. So I thank the Lord that He saw fit to give them to me anyway.
I will continue, with His help, to do right by them and their father.
That is my promise to you and your sister, and your dad, this Mother's Day.
Love,
Mom
