Mother's Day 2010

Dear Jack,

I wore you a lot today. It made me happy to have you all snuggly in your Moby Wrap, remembering that last Mother's Day you were all snuggly in my womb. In fact, just thinking about that fact amazes me.

In just under a year, you have gone from an unborn baby to a crawly, explorey, super-sensory, babbly and beautiful baby boy. You even stood a few more times today and both your sister and I heard the syllable "syd" in the midst of your babbling. That's how far you have come.

Just like all the other times we went to the zoo, you enjoyed the time spent with your family and noticed some of the bigger animal exhibits.

But this time, you really got into looking at the things you wanted to look at, in this case, the fish. You crawled all around the fresh water aquarium space, looking at different fish, patting the glass, watching the movement. I swear you even tried to say the word "fish" although all you really got out was the "sh" sound.

You also played... hard... with your sister. The two of you had some game you were playing in the Indian area tepees.

Then, when we got to the zoo playground (which mysteriously had not existed in the other three or four visits to the zoo), you crawled around and played there, too.

In other words, you had an outing all your own, not just another chance to be "along for the ride" on one of your sister's trips.

And that, sweet boy, made for a cool Mother's Day.

Love,
Mom
